Book Review- Friendship Bread by Darien Gee

    "Friendship Bread book Darien Gee"

Who would have thought that some Amish bread would bring an entire little town together? Friendship Bread introduces us to many characters but author Darien Gee does a great job introducing each character and with that I was able to understand the story of each character to fully build on the book as a whole. Just to name a few key characters there's Julia and Mark who's marriage is suffering from the lose of their son and still raise their daughter Gracie. There's Livvy, Julia's estranged sister. Hannah, who struggles with her husband walking out on her. Madeline, the owner of the tea shop who starts out feeling like an outsider in the small town of Avalon, Illinois. Connie, a young woman who has lost her job. You'll also meet a few more characters throughout the book. Each adding a special ingredient to Friendship Bread.

While reading Friendship Bread, you discover that a baked treat and a friend to listen can heal. With warmth, compassion and a bit of humor Friendship Bread can inspire people to forgive, give a helping hand to others and gives the urge to bake treats to share with family and friends. Friendship Bread is based on a recipe of Amish Friendship Bread. From just 1 bag of Amish bread starter new friends are made, families are brought back together, women starting trusting in others and their selves again. By the end Operation Friendship Bread brings the entire town together. At Madeline's Tea Salon, there was a room made for the "The Amish Friendship Bread Club" the growing group of women brought together by the culinary treat and made it their ongoing mission to bake for families, organizations and communities in need.

Friendship Bread was a great read. I couldn't put it down until I had read my copy cover to cover. I was glad to see the Amish Friendship Bread recipes and tips included in the back of the book. I look forward to the next Avalon novel. For more Amish Friendship Bread recipes or to join the online Friendship Bread community you can visit the Friendship Bread  Kitchen as well as joining FBKitchen on Facebook and @fbkitchen on twitter. Friendship Bread will be released on April  5, 2011 and you can pre order Friendship Bread on Amazon for $15.83 for a hardcover or $12.99 for the Kindle edition.
