I'm determined to have a good time and not let BlogHer scare me #BlogHer13

I only recommend products I use myself and all opinions expressed here are our own. This post may contain affiliate links that at no additional cost to you, I may earn a small commission.

The high tide of blog conference season seems to be upon us. Ever since I took blogging more seriously instead of looking at it as just a hobby I wanted to experience what conferences were all about. I met a handful of bloggers in 2010 at a blogger event in TN. That was when I met Lindsay from Laughing Lindsay who I am still very good friends with today. In 2011 I didn't attend any blog conferences. In 2012 I was able to attend Reviewer's Retreat for the first time. 2013 is looking to be a good year for Mama Bee Does. I was able to attend the first ever SoFabCon from Collective Bias a few weeks ago. I'm still working on posts to share on that. While working on writing up about SoFabCon I am also preparing for more conferences. I will be attending Reviewer's Retreat again this year the weekend before my birthday.

    BlogHer '13
BlogHer had always been the weekend of my Mom's birthday. Not wanting to miss any celebrations of her life I never thought twice about trying to attend. Plus with me only going to conferences that were fairly small I wasn't sure that I could handle a conference as big as BlogHer. I always told myself that if the conference was moved to a different date and it would work out for me that I should put my fears aside of being at the large conferences and go. Well it worked out that I was able to get a ticket for BlogHer this year and will traveling to Chicago, IL for the first time the end of July.

I have read many posts on previous BlogHer events. I know there are many different opinions from bloggers. I will do my best to enjoy the experience and make the most of it. I was told by @Lizz_Porter on twitter that you get what you want from BlogHer and not to stress and be flexible in your plans and I hope to do just that. I will be flying to Chicago sometime the Wednesday before the conference and will return home sometime that Sunday. I told my boys I would be going on two more trips this summer and they were kind of bummed but they know we will still have a family summer vacation before they go back to school.

Have you attended BlogHer before? Was it what you hoped or expected? Do you have any helpful advice or tips for a BlogHer newbie? Coming off my high of SoFabCon I'm all ready thinking about what I want to wear and what to pack for BlogHer (I all ready have Reviewer's Retreat planned out).
