Easy Easter Crafts: Plastic Easter Egg Critters & Snake

I wanted to do an Easter craft with the boys before next week because we will be traveling a lot so not much time to sit and craft. I wanted something fun, minimal on the mess factor and something easy enough for Baby B to enjoy doing. I decided to make plastic Easter egg critters and a plastic Easter egg snake. We love to #GlueNGlitter so let's get hoppin' with this egg-cellent plastic Easter egg craft tutorial.

Plastic Easter Egg Critters

Supplies:
* Plastic Easter eggs (1 for each critter. Then at least 10-20 halves and 2 whole eggs for the snake)
* Scissors
* Pipe cleaners
* Pom pom balls (cotton balls) variety of colors/sizes
* Googly eyes
* Glue dots (I use Elmer's Craft Bond glue spots b/c it's a no mess way for the boys to use glue)
* Black marker
* Few dry beans (for the snake tail to rattle)
* String
* Tape

1. Check you plastic eggs for tiny holes in the tops and bottoms. Most have holes all ready in them. You may need to use the scissors to add holes if there aren't any or make them a bit larger so you can feed the pipe cleaners through them.

2. Feed a pipe cleaner through the hole on the top of your egg. Bend it to shape the rabbit ears (or critter ears of your choice). You can also use the holes on the bottom of the egg to run a pipe cleaner in to make feet if you want. For the ears I used a whole pipe cleaner. For the feet, I cut 1 pipe cleaner in half and ran it through the holes on the bottom of the egg and then folded the parts that stuck out under to give them long bunny feet.

3. Use the glue dots on the back side of the googly eyes to stick them to the eggs. You can draw a nose and mouth on or just a mouth and use a pom pom ball for a nose. What ever strikes your fancy.

And there you have your own plastic Easter Egg critters.

Directions on how to make the plastic Easter egg snake:

1. Cut a piece of string the length you want your snake ( I used 1 pipe cleaner for the snake shown here). Thread the string/ pipe cleaner through a whole egg, tie a knot in it so it won't slip off and fill it with the dry beans and tape it closed.

2. Take your eggs apart and make a hole in the center of the tops and bottoms of the eggs (as we did for the bunny ears in steps 1 and 2 of the critter craft above) to thread on the string or pipe cleaner.

3. Thread the egg halves on to the string/ pipe cleaner to the snake length you want your snake.

4. Thread on another whole egg (for the head) and make sure you have some string left hanging out the end to make the tongue. Tape the egg closed.

5. Draw a face on your snake and its ready to rattle.
