Social Fabric University Intro to PHOT-001 Food Photography Class with Sony

I'm all most to my 30's and I have gone back to school, sort of. Granted it is only 1 class and it's only a 6 week course but I am doing it to better myself and my blog. I have been accepted in to the Social Fabric University (SoFab U) Food Photography with Sony online course.

I can do the point and shoot for taking photographs but most times I'm doing just that I can't tell what lighting I need, what's the best props and I don't even know all the setting on my little Canon Powershot camera. For my photos at home I have to use my PowerShot but most times when we are out I just grab my iPhone for photos. With the camera on the iPhone and the Camera+ iPhone app I have come up with some decent photos.

SoFab U has offered a select few the opportunity to participate in their PHOT-001 Food Photography class. I'm hoping that the 6 week course with them can help me better understand my camera, how to capture fabulous photos with the use of natural light or the next best thing, whatever that may be and how to make the good photos even better by learning the ropes of photo editing software.

I'm not a strictly food blogger but I enjoy sharing my recipes with y'all and a fantastic photo can make or break a recipe. For me the recipe photo is what draws people in to make them want to recreate the beauty that I've shared. I don't have that beauty just yet and I think that with this course I can better my food photos for y'all here and I can continue to grow as a photographer. I'm sure I can take what I learn from my class and apply it to other subjects than just food.

Take this photo I took today... it's not appealing to look at enough to make you want to know the recipe does it?

"pork tenderloin red potatoes slow cooker crock pot recipe"

I'm hoping that I can learn enough to make y'all want to ask what is that? Can you share the recipe? Now it is kind of hard to make raw pork tenderloin look pretty but I think know I can do better than this. I'm also wanting to continue selling my cakes and baked goods and the photos I have are good but they don't showcase my work like they should. I need my cakes to look like a million bucks for my customers to want to do business with me. I need to put my best foot forward so I'm brushing up on my camera knowledge and going through the house trying to figure out what room has the best lighting. I am ready to make you drool and lick your computer screens. Wish me luck, I haven't been in a class in about 10 years.

Do you have in photography tips or tricks you can share with me?

Disclosure: This post is an assignment for my food photography with Sony course with Social Fabric University. I will be graded on different parts of the course which include blog posts. #SocialFabric #CBias
